I don't think there's one spot in this apartment that isn't covered with half an inch of dog hair. Newfoundlands do shed quite well. Ah, the wonders of Spring. |

| | sore | ] | All the 'happy St Patrick's Day' greetings sort of miss the mark when you've got a broken nose to tend to. The doctor was able to set it right yesterday, but I'm not sure if it hurts more or less now. I do know that painkillers are a great invention. I'm also thankful for having a dog who's learnt not to jump up on people, because I'm pretty sure he'd dislocate the fracture out of pure misguided love otherwise.
As the doctor said, 'you hurt the ones you love.' I'm sure Hunter had that phrase in mind. |

| | content | ] | After five days at home, Romeo still seems quite content. He sleeps in his bed, although last night he curled up against my back. It's amazing how easily you fall into old habits when it comes to dogs - I can swear I have the same rules for this little guy as I had for Nelly seven years ago. He's a real charmer though, but I guess everybody says that about their dogs.
Are you happy now, Ally? I have a dog and I had a Christmas tree. You should be proud. |

| | optimistic | ] | My apartment hold dog things but yet no dog. In a few days, though. It feels so odd to see a dog bed in my bedroom - especially as I suspect my own bed might be shared a lot. Anyhow, I'm rather excited for the puppy's arrival. At least this time around, I'm not living in a trailer. A little more space isn't bad when a newfoundland dog is concerned. But hey, I survived living with one in a trailer and I know for a fact that a grown newf fits perfectly fine in this apartment.
Ally, would you like to come along when I go to pick him up? Who knows, an extra hand during the ride home might be a good idea. |

| | cheerful | ] | I've been helping my dad move things into his new apartment today. He'll still be sleeping at my place for a few more days, since his lacks a few essentials. Such as a bed. But we're working on it. I'm still wondering just where we'll get the money to equip a new apartment, but dad promises he's got more money than I think. I don't recall having hinted that he'd be poor, but apparently he thinks such things of me.
He's been living here for about seven or eight months. It's both nice and sort of odd to have him finally getting his own place. I've been thinking about whether his spontaneous relocation will mean I'll be seeing my sisters more often, if they decide to come visit him for his birthday and similar occasions. That could be rather nice. Living so far from your family has it's drawbacks - at least if you enjoy them. |

| | okay | ] | Dad and I are still eating Thanksgiving leftovers. Guess we made way too much food for just the two of us. I'm growing rather tired of turkey, to be frank. Then again, it never was a favourite of mine.
In good news, dad's gotten a job - as a santa in a warehouse nearby. At least it gets him out of the apartment, other than to go to the coffee shop. I'm actually proud of him. |

| | contemplative | ] | I think my father tried to have a serious conversation with me last night. I'm not sure, because it never really got anywhere and we ended up just sitting silently and watching the movie on the TV. Apart from that moment of awkwardness, I think I'm getting used to having him around here. Maybe not comfortable, but not as confused as I intially was. Guess that's something. |

| | happy | ] | Conveniently following Ally's and my conversation about dogs a while ago, I've been the designated petsitter of my friend's Newfoundland dog, Nelly. We go way back, me and this lady. Of course, when we shared a trailer she was a puppy, but considering I now live in an apartment, I'm sure it'll work out fine. Dad's happy to have her around as well. I guess the only fault is that she's used to sleeping in the bed at home, and my bed isn't used to a huge dog. Or well, I'm not used to sharing it with a huge dog. It's kinda cosy, though.
Hunter, how about a puppy playdate? |

| | confused | ] | At 29 years of age, the last thing you’re prepared for is to get your father for roommate on no notice whatsoever. I’d rather not see it happen at all, but he’s not given me much of a choice, nor a reason why. So I guess he’s staying until I can figure out the full extent of the problem or until he sees fit to leave. Until then, I’ll just have to deal with seeing my dad sleeping on the couch when I get up in the mornings, and eating dinner in uncomfortable silence. Wonderful.
We did watch Gran Torino last night. Agreed on that it was good. |
